Karina Pandya is an author, poet, and short story writer with a postgraduate degree in Communication from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai. She has written three books — Touching Void: Surviving a Car Accident, New York Wakes to Culture, and Inside Mumbai: Stories from the Heart of a Vibrant City. She is also the founder of the poetry platform Limits Make Things Too Small and a former speaker at leading business schools across Mumbai. Her website features in-depth interviews with prominent voices from literature, cinema, and design.
A multifaceted storyteller — fiction writer, poet, cultural commentator, and educator — Karina’s work spans the emotional spectrum from raw personal reflection to the layered rhythms of urban life. Born in New York and raised primarily in Mumbai, she brings a dual cultural lens to her writing: the global and the local, the curiosity of an outsider and the intimacy of an insider.
Her early writing was shaped by courage and introspection. Her memoir-style work Touching Void: Surviving a Car Accident recounts her miraculous survival of a childhood accident and the long recovery that followed — a powerful narrative of pain, healing, and resilience.
Karina later expanded into poetry with her collection Limits Make Things Too Small, which established her voice as subtle, lyrical, and emotionally resonant. The book eventually inspired a poetry platform of the same name, now a space that nurtures both emerging and established poetic talent.
Her latest book, Inside Mumbai: Stories from the Heart of a Vibrant City, reflects her journalistic roots and her deep connection to Mumbai. The novel follows young newsroom interns as they attempt to capture the pulse of a city in constant motion — layered, divided, vibrant, and profoundly human.
An experienced speaker and educator, Karina frequently engages with business schools, literary circles, and creative forums across India. Her work and talks explore themes of identity, urban culture, narrative power, and mental-health awareness in contemporary India.
