Relationships in today’s fast-paced and overwhelming digital age can be extremely exhausting. Being chronically online is the internet reprogramming our mind and are we redefining our relationships based on this?

With script dialogues which are hooking one of the most popular ones is

“It’s the digital age. Sirf lagta hai zyada connected hai, lekin shayad itne akele pehle kabhi nahi the”- “We just feel more connected but perhaps have never been so alone before.”

If loneliness is so relatable like this to people, are we using social media the wrong way?

Having been released on 26th December on Netflix, this film has struck a chord with many people on social media. It even has been having thousands of posts on Instagram with dialogue and captions such as “Reality Never Hit Harder”. So clearly there is a lot of resonance people can have with this film.

After having been the second assistant director in Gully Boy – 2019, debutante director Arjun Varain Singh has not only directed the film but also contributed to the writing along with Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. Not revolving around any particular character, the film has a good cast starring Ananya Pandey, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Adarsh Gourav and Kalki Koechlin.

Ananya (Ananya), Neil (Adarsh) ( and Imaad (Siddhanth) are three friends who are in their mid-20s and trying to find meaning in the digital age. It’s the generation of millennials and Gen Z’s. Everything is related to showing off whether it is vacations that must be documented, places that you should go to should be Instagrammable or a Get Ready with Me (GRWM) shoot.

Whether it is the constant swiping on dating apps, an unrequited lover documenting everything Ananya does on Instagram to seek another’s attention, etc. or Imaad’s complete opening up about his past in a stand-up comedy,

there is a lot to learn through this film about how important it is to be authentic and not let things bottle up.

As they lean on each other as they find their way through the complexities of self-discovery and relationships it’s very easy to relate to them. While Ananya is an MBA, Siddhanth is a stand-up comedian and Adarsh is a gym instructor.

I would advise everyone to watch this film.
