The Power of Music!

Music has the power within it to distract anyone. Most often, this distraction happens at the wrong times! Usually people listen to their i Pods, and walk mans while traveling and this is played a huge setback in their performance.
We are led into this sub-conscious state, where our level of awareness is dimmed and body reflexes act in accordance to the tune we are listening to.
This “so called” predication can be justified by the tempo of music playing in any gym. It is high paced, with allot of beats involved, so that the body is in the groove and rhythm of the workout.
All those sappy, love songs have a very good impounding effect on slowing down the energy levels in our body, keeping us in a calm and peaceful state.
Listening to music at work, a harmless act many white-collared employers engage in changes the entire mentality of writing. Instead of giving a 100% to an article being written, music I was listening to crept in and found a way to lower my concentration.
Perpetually, having my finger run along the outer rims of my I Pod from time to time, not only had me losing attention, but missing out in doing something I really like doing, and that’s writing!
It’s an honest confession, but we all learn from our mistakes and now that I stopped the i Pod and kept it only for travel purpose, automatically I felt more aware and absorbed in my work.
Tables have turned around now, as I watch others listening to their i Pods while commuting; watching as their body memento changes pace from slow to fast to slow again..(Music)
Trying to block out the deafening announcements, heard at the railway stations, people try to act oblivious to the role and effect music is playing on them, distracting them from reality.
Or, Maybe I’m wrong- it’s just my belief.. Either way, I know how it has had an effect on me.

Agree, iPod can decrease work productivity, ur post reminds me of the times when I have listened to music, while walking on the streets..and later realized a car literally banging me..But true, it has the power to change your mood.

Hiya, great observation, but don't forget that music does take you into a higher state of consciousness, depending of course the type of music, the volume it is listened at. if music is soft enough and relegated to the background of your thoughts it can actually enhance your focus and concentration levels. My view of course, you don't have to agree. Take a listen to “Tales of Mystery and Imagination” by Alan Parsons. Its a very unusual album, inspired by Edgar Allen Poe, and talks about music a bit….
