Torn between her dreams to pursue her art and her father’s expectations of her studying law, Amy (Zoe Saldaña) arrives in Italy but instead falls in love with a charming chef who gives her life a new perspective.

Created by Attica Locke (an American fiction author and writer/producer) & Tembi Locke (an American actress), From Scratch is a miniseries that was released in October 2022 on Netflix.

It has been inspired by Tembi Locke’s memoir of the same name.

With Reese Witherspoon, Tembi Locke, Lauren Neustadter, Richard Abate, Attica Locke, Lauren Neustadter, Richard Abate and Jermaine Johnson as executive producers Bryan J. Raber, Mariel Saldaña, Cisely Saldaña, Judd Rea and Guy J. Louthan were the producers. Starring  Zoe Saldaña (Amy) and Eugenio Mastrandrea.(Lino), the miniseries has been extensively shot across Los Angeles, USA and Florence, Italy.

Divided into eight miniseries, the show is directed by both Nzingha Stewart and Dennie Gordon. Zoe Saldana shines as a beautiful actress throughout. Everything about this miniseries is fabulous, right from the locations, characters, story, and music. It makes you want to believe in love stories all over again. The familial relationships, characters and storyline are very realistic and are easy to relate to.

This miniseries doesn’t leave you incomplete; there is a beginning, middle and end!  The love story between Amy and Lino is so heartwarming and the sacrifices that they make for each other uplift the mood. The familial adjustments cannot be overlooked. Even the disparity between Lino’s mother and father cannot be overlooked.

This miniseries is a great addition to Netflix and is a heartwarming love story (romance) that should not be missed. All the soundtracks are so beautiful to listen to, especially Hola and Anime Imperfette.
