Spinning: Cycle your way to Weight Loss

Known to be a fabulous way to burn calories as well as reduce stress levels, a spinning workout is known to have a wide number of benefits. With the constant change in lighting and music, you will finish your workout feeling amazed and knowing that you have aced your cardio workout for the day. Some of the main benefits include:

  • You burn ‘A LOT’ of calories: A spinning workout of 45 minutes can help a person easily burn up to 500 calories. This is a lot when compared to any other type of workout. However, the number of calories is directly related to the amount of intensity of the workout.
  • Helps to build muscle tone: A spinning workout, which is done on a regular basis, can help a person to build muscle tone. While the workout mainly focuses on the use of core muscles, other muscles are also used such as the thigh and buttocks. The tension can be increased or even decreased to change how intense the workout is. So, if you peddle faster, remember that you are burning fat; and when you pedal slower because the tension is higher it is because your muscles are at work. Maintaining the right position while spinning is important, as it can help to work on the abdominal muscles.
  • Increases your cardio endurance: A spinning workout is an excellent way to increase your cardio endurance. So, what do we actually mean by this? Known to be the most important aspect of fitness, cardiovascular endurance refers to how ‘strong’ your heart is. It refers to the ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen-rich blood to all of the working muscle tissues; and the ability of the muscles to make use of the oxygen to produce energy that is required for movement.
  • Spinning is a low impact exercise: While many exercises, aerobic and running exercises are known to put a lot of pressure on your joints and knees; spinning is known to be an extremely low impactful workout. Even people who suffer from arthritis can engage in this activity.
  • A great stress reliever: Spinning is known to be an excellent way to keep negative thoughts far astray. Similar to all other forms of exercise, which are known to have a positive impact on health, people benefit from the fact that they also get to socialise and meet other people during the workout. Not only is the workout intensive, but along with the constantly changing lights and high-tempo music the class is a great way to enjoy burning calories.
  • You get well-toned and defined legs: Spinning is a great way to tone your muscles and keep your legs in shape. Not only do you get your heart rate at its peak during the intensive workout, but regular spinning can lead to your legs getting well-toned and defined.
