World Mental Health Day was first started in 1992 by on October 10th, an annual activity of the World Federation for Mental Health.


World Mental Health Day was first started in 1992 by on October 10th, an annual activity of the World Federation for Mental Health.

There were members and contacts from over 150 countries that were involved.and the main aim was to spread awareness and attention to mental illness and its major effects on peoples’ life worldwide.



While the first two years followed no particular theme, it was in 1995 that themes began to be used for this day.

Just have a look at today’s digitised times; where youngsters are constantly battling the effects of human rights violations, unhappiness, anxiety and depression at schools and offices. Moreover there is a rise in substance abuse and cyber bulling.This year the focus is on the youth and young adults and trying to create to create some sense of conversation and awareness and precaution of these issues creating a favourable atmosphere that is healthier, happier and far more resilient for them.

We all need to take a firm stand and demand justice for the young! After all, our future depends too depends on them!
