Divided into seventeen sub-topics, each chapter takes you on a very insightful journey of questioning why you suffer, think and feel the way you do. Addressing emotional and psychological concerns such as stress, fear, anxiety and feelings of self-consciousness, this book delves deep into our subconscious to alleviate the issues that we face. Our natural state is to be in joy, love and peace; so why do we face the issues that we do and how can we get past them?

Why is it so difficult to slow down in life and reduce all the chitter chatter (noise) around us? It aims at helping a person find peace of mind, joy, peace and fulfilment we need to first get past the external attractions such as money, fame, etc. A book which delves deep into topics such as humanity, divinity and simplicity we are constantly reminded of what is really causing our suffering and how to change that.

Pain is inevitable but suffering is really optional! We cannot stop painful events from occurring in our lives but we have the ability to stop the suffering that comes along with it. We have the ability to control our reactions and thereby control how we feel throughout our lives.

A self-improvement book, topics such as the difference between thinking and thoughts are brushed upon to help us realise how we can control our reality. While many people go through the same experiences at the same time with the same circumstances, we feel completely different from the other. Our thinking is the ultimate reason why we feel the way we do and not from external events.

“No matter what has happened to you, where you are from, or what you have done, you can still find total peace, unconditional love, complete fulfilment, and an abundance of joy in your life.”

“No person is an exception to this. Darkness only exists because of the light, which means even in our darkest hour, light must exist.”

“It is not about rewiring your brain, rewriting your past, but expanding your consciousness.”

With various stories cited throughout the book, we are reminded of how suffering is something that we create and NOW can be optional. From questioning to why we think to questions about what are thoughts and what is thinking we learn how to channel our emotions and strive to create a balance in our lives.

Unlike other self-improvement books, Joseph’s book touches upon almost every reason why we ‘suffer’ and how to change our thinking; pointing out different aspects of our suffering

Are we living in reality or are we living in a world of perceptions?  While negative emotions may come and go, we need to understand that we are in flow when thinking and nothing is permanent.

A truly delightful book, I feel any and every person will enjoy reading this book!
