An age-old debate – Cats do make better pets than dogs! Do you disagree?

Before you do, let me give you some reasons why these domestic animals have such a deep psychological effect on their owners.

Cats are human’s companions in real life and also in the virtual world as well. They have infant like features large round heads, big round eyes, big looking cheeks and their cry can also resemble the sound of a baby! They are known for taking over our homes and the Internet.

Feline photography is quite the craze on the Internet. For a long time people have been trying to capture images of cats –particular features of felines that play well online, the sudden ‘JUMP’ or ‘POUNCE’ away from a cucumber, just looking at cat faces and the fact that they look so human to us but are blank in a way makes them so irresistible!

Mumbai and many other cities across the country and around the world that encourage cat cafes – In Mumbai there is the Cat Cafe Studio which is a lovely cafe housing rescued cats. They follow a simple mission and that is to rescue. care, love & adopt.

Moreover, It is located in Versova, Andheri to cater to the cat enthusiasts and lovers while they enjoy their freshly brewed coffee or devour a slice of cake. There are board games, free WiFi, heartwarming purrs, 30-40 cats to play with.

This is is truly a space to bring out your artistic side and exhibit your art or even perform here (poetry or any other weekly event)! From painters, writers, photographers, musicians, stand up comedians, motivational speakers, fashion designers, dancers and other skilled professionals, it’s a great place to flaunt your work.  Other cities have also got these cafes such as Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata and Gurgaon.

There are so many different types of cats being looked after and one of them is a natural mutation from a domestic shorthair cat of a classic Hollywood werewolf and is called the Lykoi or the Werewolf cat. It has partial hairlessness.

Right from Persian cats, Calico cats, Siamese cats. Maine Coon cats, British shorthair cats, Sphynx cats; there are many breeds of cats. The ironic factor is that only 2% cats are pedigree cats or purebred cats. All they really are just fur dolls and Internet stars!

However, did you know that in ancient Egypt, cats were considered as sacred and were known commonly by the name of ‘Mau’.

While the ‘cat cult’ was considered a ‘religious movement’, the domesticated cat became a symbol of poise and grace.
Besides this, the revered animal of the Egyptian society and religion often received the same mummification after death as humans!

                                  Mummified Cat

Remember Garfield, Felix the Cat, Hello Kitty, Cat in the Gay, Tigger, Sylvester, Tom (of Tom & Jerry), Cat in the Hat, Puss in Boots, Lucifer, the Grumpy Cat, Si and Am (the sinister Siamese cats), There is plenty of cat related Internet content that contributes to how people interact with the media and culture, despite how frivolous it may even be.

In fact, Alia Bhatt is well known for her obsession for cats- and is well known for posting ‘awwdorable’ pictures on her Instagram handle. Here she addresses her self as the proud “Mother Of Cat,” a la Khaleesi style of a white fuzzy feline – Edward and cannot resist any urge to stay away from petting or clicking stray cats that she spots on the street. Last year, when Alia Bhatt posted a picture with her cat-Edward –dressed up in a fabulous Atelier Zuhra dress, her fans liked the photo 5 lakh times in less than 12 hours time!

However, its not just Alia Bhatt; there’s Pooja Bhatt –her sister who is very fond of cats and is the owner of 3 cats; Manisha Koirala who also owns two Persian cats and Zarina Khan who also owns two cats. This popularity with cats on the Internet has been raging over the Internet for many years – right from 2012 when people used to dress up cats with BREAD and promoting that through blogs across the Internet.

Breading: At one point of time, there was this absurd trend of dressing cats in bread and promoting that on blogs. The whole idea was to think that you had a walking sandwich and that particular page even gained over 10,000 fans.

Interesting, but true: Did you even know that Abraham Lincoln was the first President who brought cats in the white house and Earnest Hemingway was a natural cat lover! There must be plenty more stories out there, but one thing’s for sure and that is that they will always leave their paw prints on our hearts!
