So, now that you know what spinning is all about, let me tell you that there is much more to this stationary cycle exercise than you think! While the timing of the classes may differ, spinning also focuses on different ways to workout.

Some of the different types of spinning classes are:

  • Back-light Spinning Classes: While we know that spinning involves changes in lighting, one type of spinning class offers a ‘club like feeling to it’. This means that the entire workout is conducted in a pitch dark room, with back-light options available. These lights may be of different colours such as red, green, yellow, etc. A person is not able to see much, other than what he/she is doing. The music that is played is usually very catchy; most often has beats in it (making it easy to work out to) and has a very ‘club-like’ feeling to it. Most often, many people find this very appealing about spinning because once they start the workout in this manner, they often have so much of fun that they forget it was a workout.
  • Endurance Spinning Classes: These classes are longer than the regular spinning classes which usually last up to 45 minutes. Very often, they may go up to 60 – 75 minutes and are designed to increase a person’s stamina. Very often, attending such classes requires mental preparation and of course carrying your bottle of water, sports/energy drinks (e.g. Gatorade/Vitamin or flavoured water; or PLAIN water.
  • Sunrise Spinning Classes: Sunrise spinning classes are those early morning classes which are held ‘early in the morning’. The timing may differ and start as early as 6.30 AM. However, the timings of these classes may differ from gym to gym. These classes often involve a lot of stretching exercises, as a person has just woken up. The warm-ups may thus be a bit longer than the other two. Of course, these classes are a great way for people to kick-start their day!
