Directed by Venessa Caswill, who is well known for having directed the BBC miniseries – Thirteen, Little Women, A Fairytale of the City and Thirteen.
A freak for literature and poetry, 20-year-old Hadley is to depart for London from New York to see her father get ‘re-married’; she however misses her flight by a mere 4 minutes! She immediately finds out that she can get a ticket for the next flight, but the only ticket would be for business class!
As if fate had destined, this is also the same plane that 22-year-old Britisher Oliver who is a data-driven statistics major from Yale is all set to board so that he can attend his (living) mother’s Shakespeare-themed memorial. A quick conversation about his casual offer to lend her a phone charger leads to them passing some time together before their plane takes off.
As they rush to board the plane, they get separated as a result of the class of seats that they are in. However, as if fate had destined, Oliver manages to sit right next to Hadley as his seatbelt in his seat in economy class is broken. Spending hours with each other, the entire flight to London turns into one long date where the two enjoy in-flight meals together, a movie together and beautiful conversations.
Upon reaching London, they however lose each other at customs and the possibility of ever meeting each other again. However, fate seems to be pulling in another direction – in a very positive one!
Taking place at JFK Airport in New York, on a plane crossing the Atlantic and in London, it is easy to spy plenty of iconic locations such as The Statue of Liberty, Piccadilly Circus, The Tower of London, The New York skyline and Kew Gardens. Some of the other key locations seen throughout the film are Stansted London, Shoreditch- London, the Bloomsbury Hotel, London, Asylum Chapel in Peckham House, Regent’s Canal- London and Ezra Street Market – London.
The film is also shot during the Christmas period which only sets a cosy ambience to the film.
The movie, which is well-paced and also has quality casting gives birth to great chemistry and deeply rooted characters.
