Only 7 out of 100 entrepreneurs in India are women. India has been ranked 52 out of 57  in a study that measured the success of women entrepreneurs in different countries. Interestingly, women entrepreneurs in India are more likely to prioritise social impact and sustainability. 51% of women are motivated by the desire to make a difference in society. The main idea behind LXMI.inc is to inspire and empower businesswomen and offer guidance to accelerate their professional goals. LXMI.in proactively eases access to industry-specific mentorship and corporate networks while also facilitating business education for women.

IFBE (Ice Factory at Ballard Estate), which is an experimental venue for transdisciplinary practices across modern and contemporary architecture, art and pedagogy collaborated with LXMI to hold a women’s conference on the 25th of May between 4 PM and 8 PM.

The event is known to be of kind business and entrepreneurship conference for women in India who are looking to start up and scale their businesses in India. Sarita Vijayan, who is the founder of For Young India (FYI) – India’s premier creative marketing agency has been LXMI.inc. FYI is India’s largest AEC (Architecture Engineering and Construction) focused experimental content and design firm.

The speakers for the event were Faye D’souza, Shoma Chaudhary, Zarina Screwvala, Amita Madhavani, Kanika Tekriwal, Sonam Motwani, Reinu Shah, Aparna Piramal Raje, Priyanka Agarwal, Sanjana Chatlani, Anjalee Bhansal and Shireen Gandhy.

The event was spread out between the various rooms of ICE such as the substation, the cathedral and the Ice Factory. There were refreshments (tea and biscuits) served throughout the event and food was served at the in-house cafeteria – The Banyan Café.

The entire event ended with closing remarks by Faye D’Souza and a lovely song sung by young children, ‘Ekla Chalo Re’ which literally translates as “If nobody answers to your call.. even then you must move forward (alone). This song was written by Rabindranath Tagore and motivates us to be brave and walk alone on our path even if the whole world is unfair.

The event was a huge success attracting one hundred and fifty guests.
